I am gradually feeling more and more like myself again. Things like this take time, you know, to recover or whatever you want to call it. It takes a lot of effort and love for yourself to get there. I keep trying to remember “one day at a time”.

2013: A year for looking great.
I’ve grown so much this year. I’ve really begun to discover who I am and who I want to be. Thanks for coming along.
Defying the odds : Unfortunately if this were around 4 years ago, I would’ve had way more women to post to represent plus sized black celebrity women, however all of those women who I initially thought of slimmed down…From Jordin Sparks, Raven Symone, Toccara, to Mo’nique and Jennifer Hudson..etc. More than likely, because of the industry. Hopefully it was for their health.
Hey, this is my first submission! I’m 19 and a size 18/20 US. I found this blog this morning and I got really excited and wanted to share my Lifetime movie fat girl’s dream senior year I had with you guys!
First of all, after working hard for years, I got the lead in my school’s musical, Little Women, where I played Jo March, a role usually played by a skinny girl (holla!). It was awesome because I got to kiss two attractive boys every day for a couple of months and break one of their hearts like the cold vixen I am.
The second awesome thing that happened was being asked to prom by the boy that was the captain of the football team and Homecoming king. I’m serious. This is where the Lifetime movie bit comes in. He went to my solo and ensemble performance and when I came out of the room, he was holding up a sign that said “Prom?”. And of course I accepted. Oh, and then when we got to prom, my name was on the prom queen ballot! It ended up going to my best friend so I’m not complaining.
But yeah, these are just two of the really cool things that happened last year and my little humble brag is over. Just remember that a little confidence goes far and sometimes life will surprise you. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and destroy stereotypes!

See this… this is how it’s done.
No “you don’t look chunky, you look beautiful.”
No “you don’t look chunky” at all.
Just complete acceptance. Yeah, you look how you do, and how you look is beautiful. Mama gets it.
i love this family
